Idat 203: its over

Huuuum its over now, didn’t go very well.  They said I had good ideas and good references.  but my end product was disappointing, which I agree with myself.  Maybe with a few more tutorials, I would of used my ideas in a better way. Oh well, cant win them all can you.  It is just a stressful time of year at the moment. Damn easter falling early this year!!!!

Idat 203: Report and Persentation done

Today I completed my report and persentation, which I am going to present tomorrow. I just wish I had more time for this module. I just guess the scheme of how the module has not helped me. I do believe my final piece is poor, and I just dont feel, excited by it at all. So I am probably going not going to be very motivated in me presentation 😦

But oh well we all have bad one….

Idat 203 Production

Adam and Shemma recorded the poems today and i edited them together in Sony Vegas

I have asked Shemma and Adam to be my voices, as Adam has a really intense voice which would work well with the Patrolling Barnegat and Shemma has a natural comforting voice that I believe will work well with the Sonnet. I used my digital camera as a recording device and it has a good microphone and always records clear. To edit the piece together i used Sony Vegas, as I find this software easy to use and I am confident with my skills within this software.
I first created two audio track, one i made pan to the left and the other the right. Then I placed Adams audio in one and Shemmas in the other. I then went through both poems and found the key places for the audios to swop. Once I had moved everything about, i faded in and out the tracks where they swopped so it creates a smoother and stereo effect.
I went onto Flashkit.com and I downloaded some sound effects, of rough sea, a flare gun and genral nature sounds, but i felt that when i placed them in the piece it made it even hard to understand the speech audio, and became impossible to follow. I decided to leave this out for now.
I tested it though my headphone placed in the computer and onces I was happy I renders the piece as a MP3 and named it Case Study Nature Swop

Idat 203: idea I am going to take forward and stick with!

Time is running out so I am going to lok into poetry and how narrative are expressed in a different way, and liek my Idat 204 piece I am going to two narrative playing one in each ear and then they swop ear after each verse, now the search for two poems beginnings…

idat 203 two poems

With the help of my sister I have come across these two poems, they are both about nature and how they effect the person.  But both are different views, the Sonnet poem is very light and has a positive look on nature, whereas the  Protrolling Barneget is a more negative view of nature, so I feel these are two dramatic contrasting poems.

Sonnet – John Clare

I love to see the summer beaming forth
And white wool sack clouds sailing to the north
I love to see the wild flowers come again
And mare blobs stain with gold the meadow drain
And water lillies whiten on the floods
Where reed clumps rustle like a wind shook wood
Where from her hiding place the Moor Hen pushes
And seeks her flag nest floating in bull rushes
I like the willow leaning half way o’er
The clear deep lake to stand upon its shore
I love the hay grass when the flower head swings
To summer winds and insects happy wings
That sport about the meadow the bright day
And see bright beetles in the clear lake play

Patrolling Barnegat by Walt Whitman

Wild, wild the storm, and the sea high running
Steady the roar of the gale, with incessant undertone muttering,
Shouts of demoniac laughter fitfully piercing and pealing,
Waves, air, midnight, their savagest trinity lashing,
Out in the shadows there milk-white combs careering,
On beachy slush and sand spirts of snow fierce slanting,
Where through the murk the easterly death-wind breasting,
Through cutting swirl and spray watchful and firm advancing,
(That in the distance! is that a wreck? is the red signal flaring?)
Slush and sand of the beach tireless till daylight wending,
Steadily, slowly, through hoarse roar never remitting,
Along the midnight edge by those milk-white combs careering,
A group of dim, weird forms, struggling, the night confronting,
That savage trinity warily watching.

Idat 203: Mscape

here is the website link to Mscape, but in this case I have decided not to go through with my idea of using this

Idat 203: starting new ideas

So during the Easter Holidays I was having a think of what I could continue on with for this project. I had a number of ideas. One was doing a Sugar Waters audio effect of an everyday event. Which then changed into making it based on a college shooting, with the same idea of Elephant, with it being more about the reality of the scene than the narrative. But then I started to think how would the user know the audios have swopped and if one audio was being played backwards how would they understand it, and know what was going on.
I then started to think of just doing a bigger scaled version of what I completed for Idat 204, but I did not want to do a narrative tour again, and as I do not know any actors/actresses and I am not a writer I could not create a story of different views of an event, that would be intense and worth while.
Next idea that came into my head was using Mscape, with is software which works with flash and GPS. I was thinking of creating a sound piece that follows the route you are taking by detecting where you are with the GPS on your phone. But the same reasons as before, I did not want to do just an audio tour and a story i write would not be very interesting.

Idat 203: How did it go

Right just done it, went ok this they liked that I used alot of references and found simular work. But I dont think the idea of an nteractive film went down very well. I was more suggested to go back tothe beginning and do a simluar piece as my idat 204 audio. To find details on this go to:

Idat 203: First presentation

Right well its been awhile since I wrote abotu this module.  Well where to beginning. I have been really stuch for ideas to take forward for this and my presentation is tomorrow big fat ARRRRRRRGH!!!

i have been to all the presentation so far,  and most of the comments given were scrap that and start again.  So I am liek right this is goign to be intereesting.  I am going to look into intereactive narrative, and think about doing a simular piece to Idat 204 audio.  But this time maybe create a intereactive movie.

I have made my presentation, where I include references, of movies, novels, and songs that use narrative in a different light.  I have also looked into BBC signs for life

http://www.bbc.co.uk/signsoflife/

and BBC Wannabes

http://www.bbc.co.uk/wannabes/

.  I am pleased with my presentation and I am feel confident about giving it, as I think I have a strong idea to take on and I have a good amount of references. Let you know how it goes tomorrow….

here is my presentation

Idat 203: Which one to go for????

I have just spoke to Joasia, and she has said that all my ideas are good and I just have to decide which ones to go with. She said how she felt the the hacking art idea would be easiest to write about, then the relationship between music and technology, and the photography idea would be the hardest to write about. I agree with Joasia, i was thinking last night that it would be hard to write four thousand words on the idea i had.

I have simple got to decide which one to go for, but da da da daaaaaaaaaaaa Hacking Art. As I feel that this is the coolest artwork I have seen in along while and I find it very interesting. Joasia Said that this is a good idea and that in my eassy I will have to look at the history of hacking, because at first it was for an act of good, but then it has been turned into a negative subject as it is classed with all the computer viruses that are out there.

Now-a-days though it is coming into the art scene and programing scene as a very useful and handy tool to use to art modern, exciting work.

Cory Arcangel, has an exhibition in Exeter between 15th December till the 23rd February, which I am going to try my very best to visit!!!

Now the research can begin!!!
