Idat 203: Which one to go for????

I have just spoke to Joasia, and she has said that all my ideas are good and I just have to decide which ones to go with. She said how she felt the the hacking art idea would be easiest to write about, then the relationship between music and technology, and the photography idea would be the hardest to write about. I agree with Joasia, i was thinking last night that it would be hard to write four thousand words on the idea i had.

I have simple got to decide which one to go for, but da da da daaaaaaaaaaaa Hacking Art. As I feel that this is the coolest artwork I have seen in along while and I find it very interesting. Joasia Said that this is a good idea and that in my eassy I will have to look at the history of hacking, because at first it was for an act of good, but then it has been turned into a negative subject as it is classed with all the computer viruses that are out there.

Now-a-days though it is coming into the art scene and programing scene as a very useful and handy tool to use to art modern, exciting work.

Cory Arcangel, has an exhibition in Exeter between 15th December till the 23rd February, which I am going to try my very best to visit!!!

Now the research can begin!!!

Idat 203: Sickness

I have the worst headache I have head in aaaaaaages (everybody says its down to stress :{ ), so I did not make it in Tuesday for anything, so I did not see Joasia, so I am going to see for next Tuesday and discuss my ideas, before I start my abstract

Idat 203: The re-think

I have had a few more ideas on the subject on the essay, but I want to go through them with Joasia first just to see which one I should take forward, or get told that they are all rubbish and that I should think of another totally different idea. I wish that we could speak to Joasia one by one instead in-front of the whole class as I feel I would discuss my ideas better with her one on one as you don’t have all eyes on you, when you don’t really know what your talking about.

But anyway here are a few new ideas for my essay:

Relationship between music and technology: how music can be created through code and will it soon take over from the guitar and piano? Dan Livingstone spoke to us about sound practice, which I did find very interesting but I myself would have to do further research into this subject. Dan did play us a piece from the Matrix for Rooms and I thought that this was a very interesting piece of music, and just found it amazing how it responds to the shape of the room and how everybody will hear a different version of the song as everybody is in a different position in the room.

Next I started to think,

Photographs being changed into fake art pieces, digital art??: Photographs capture a real life scene, but with the help of such software as Photoshop and Fireworks, you can change any photograph to look exactly how you want, taking it original character away, and creating it into a cartoon as such. This is done alot in advertising and you can class it as “false advertising” as you are not seeing the real thing which was taking a photo of.

It by also lead into social problems, mainly with the younger generation, as they will see models or their idols, looking skinny and beautiful, but half the time they have been air brush and have been transformed into a totally different person. But the young people will look at the edited photo and think that they should look like that which may lead into anorexia and depression not just for the young person but the whole people around the person.

My third idea is:

Hacking Art: Hacking it classed as an illegal art to create or manipulate a program to potentially harm another person computer. But Artists such as Cory Arcangel, hack into programmes and creating art from them and nothing bad gets said about it. Cory concentrates mainly on hacking in video games such a Mario, but also takes existing media pieces such as music videos and cuts them up and re-assembles them to create art movie. His work is very interesting and visual exciting. If I took this forward I would have to research into similar artists and how they go about hacking and getting away with it.
